Frank Kimmel Enters Farewell Season with Team Stange Racingby Kyle Pokrefky February 5, 2016 0 comments
10-time ARCA Racing Series champion Frank Kimmel has landed a ride for the full 2016 season with Team Stange Racing.
Set to return to a number in which he won the series championship nine times, the 80-time race winner in the ARCA ranks is set to pilot the team’s No. 46 Ford.
2016 is being billed as Kimmel’s “encore tour” as this is to be his final season as a competitor in ARCA.
The winningest driver in series history is expected to hand over the seat of the No. 46 car to his son, Frankie Kimmel, following the conclusion of the 2016 season.
Sponsorship for the No. 46 car will be provided by Juice Replay, a new consumer brand of batteries, for the full season.
Kimmel will have Kelly Bires, a veteran of 99 starts across all three of NASCAR’s national series, serve as crew chief for his swan song season.
Team Stange Racing will also bring in Kyle Shear as an in-house fabricator and mechanic while retaining Dave Weltmeyer as team manager and James Heuberger as a mechanic and car chief.
“We are honored to have Frank drive the No. 46 Team Stange/Juice Replay Ford in 2016,” Team Stange co-owner Ashley Stange stated, “And very grateful to JUICE® Batteries for making it possible. It is a privilege to take part in Frank’s Encore Tour. I am beyond excited.”
The 2016 running of the ARCA season will get underway with the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 13th.
