Tom Hessert Joins Venturini Motorsports for 2016 ARCA Seasonby Kyle Pokrefky January 12, 2016 0 comments
Five-time ARCA Racing Series race winner Tom Hessert is switching teams for the 2016 ARCA season as he will move over to Venturini Motorsports for the full year.
Last year’s fourth-place finisher in the points standings will pilot the Venturini organization’s flagship No. 25 Toyota – taking over the seat from Brandon Jones and Frank Kimmel.
A veteran of 159 starts in the series, Hessert moves to Venturini after three seasons spent as the driver of Cunningham Motorsports’s No. 77 entry.
“This is obviously a big step in my career and I’m excited about the new partnership with Venturini,” Hessert said. “Change is constant, this presents a great opportunity for me and the team to take it to the next level and compete for an ARCA championship.
“We’ve raced against each other for a while now. They’ve got a solid organization and I’m really looking forward the future – new team, new cars, and new supporting cast. It’s very exciting! We have the same goals so I don’t expect it will take long to familiarize myself with the new surroundings and make an impact right away. I’m ready to kick things off at Daytona!”
With their flagship car split between two drivers in 2015, Venturini Motorsports did not field a full-time driver last year. For this season, team general manager Billy Venturini is confident that his organization will have a strong shot at the drivers’s title with Hessert.
In his 159 career ARCA starts, Hessert’s five wins have been accompanied by 47 top-fives, 91 top-10s and two pole awards. Hessert has a best finish of third in the points standings that came in both 2010 and 2014.
“We’re very excited to have a racer of Tommy’s quality running the entire season with us,” Venturini stated. “He’s one of the most likeable and respected drivers in the garage and will be a great addition to our organization.
“On track I feel we’ll contend every week. Our ultimate goal is the Championship and with Tommy in the driver’s seat we like our chances.”
Hessert will be partnered by crew chief Ryan ‘Pickle’ London for the 2016 season with sponsorship announcements for his No. 25 car to be announced at a later date.
The Cherry Hill, N.J. native will be teamed with late model standout Cole Williams in select races this season – starting with the second race of the year at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
Additional driver announcements for the Venturini organization are also to be expected at a later date.
