Kyle Busch’s dominance at Phoenix International Raceway in the NASCAR XFINITY Series rolled on on Saturday afternoon as the driver of the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota took home the checkered flag in the DAV 200 Honoring America’s Veterans.

Busch led 190 of 200 laps to add his 76th career XFINITY race prize to his trophy case and his sixth from this season alone. The win also is Busch’s eighth at the one-mile track in Avondale, Ariz.

Brad Keselowski, the only other driver in the field to lead more than five laps, finished second to Busch as the winner’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez, respectively came home in the third and fourth positions.

Title contenders Ty Dillon, Regan Smith and Chase Elliott respectively finished fifth through seventh as Darrell Wallace Jr., Elliott Sadler and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top-10.

“I’m not sure exactly, just must be an ‘out west’ thing,” Busch said of what makes him run so well at Phoenix. “I enjoy coming out here and being that close to home in Las Vegas and just being able to enjoy the desert heat. It’s fun to come out here and the race track is a neat little race track. Certainly, it’s been challenging for me for Joe Gibbs Racing on the Sprint Cup side but our XFINITY program has got some good notes here.

“I can’t say enough about Chris Gayle [crew chief] and everybody on this Monster Energy team and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing, they just continue to do a great job and especially here at Phoenix. It’s a good place for us.”

Points leader Chris Buescher was unable to find the speed he was looking for entering the race weekend, however, he was able to depart Phoenix with his car in one piece and with his points lead over Elliott at 18 points.

Dillon and Smith were both able to make up some ground on Buescher as well and closed respectively to 22 and 24 points out of the lead.

The 2015 XFINITY Series season will wrap up at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the Ford EcoBoost 300 next Saturday.
