Erik Jones laid down a blistering lap of 26.179 seconds in the final round of qualifying for the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday morning to not only take his seventh career 21 Means 21 Pole Award, but smash the track record in the process.

Jones’s lap locked up his fifth pole position of the year by 111 thousandths of a second over fellow NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title contender, Tyler Reddick.

K&N Pro Series East driver J.J. Haley took third on the starting grid while two-time defending Truck Series champion Matt Crafton took the fourth position on the grid.

K&N East champion William Byron, Cameron Hayley, Brandon Jones, Daniel Suarez, Cole Custer and Timothy Peters completed the top-10 in the final round of qualifying.

Q1 cut the pole-contending field down to 24 and eliminated Travis Kvapil, Bobby Pierce and Jordan Anderson from contention, among others. Erik Jones was fastest in the opening round with a lap of 26.473 seconds.

The pole winner also took the top spot in Q2 with a lap of 26.305 seconds in a round that cut Daniel Hemric, Rico Abreu, Spencer Gallagher, Johnny Sauter, Matt Tifft and John Wes Townley, among others, from pole contention.

With 36 trucks taking to the track to qualify, Norm Benning, Brandon Hightower, Cassie Gannis and Caleb Roark failed to qualify for tonight’s 150-lap race.

The Lucas Oil 150 is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m ET / 6:30 p.m MT start and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 and MRN.
