Timothy Peters Sails to Fred’s 250 Pole

TALLADEGA, Ala. — Timothy Peters put his No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota on the pole for today’s Fred’s 250 after turning in a lap of 53.706 seconds around the famed Talladega Superspeedway.

Peters, the defending Fred’s 250 winner, scored first Keystone Light Pole Award of the season, the seventh of his career and his first in three years with his run.

Las Vegas winner John Wes Townley will join Peters on the front row for today’s 94-lap race after running a lap of 53.778 seconds in single-truck qualifying.

A pair of rookies, Erik Jones and Daniel Hemric, will respectively start in the third and fourth positions while Ben Kennedy, Matt Tifft, Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter, Spencer Gallagher and Christopher Bell will complete the top-10.

Both Peters and Townley also topped the speed chart in Q1 with respective laps of 53.735 and 53.888 seconds set in the first qualifying round.

With 34 trucks taking to the track for qualifying, Andy Seuss and Ryan Ellis were the only two drivers to fail to qualify for today’s race.

The Fred’s 250 will be broadcast live on FOX and MRN and is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m CT, 1:00 p.m ET start time.
