JR Motorsports and Justin Allgaier Partner Together for 2016 NXS Seasonby Kyle Pokrefky October 28, 2015 0 comments
Justin Allgaier will be packing his bags and heading over to the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2016 and will race full-time with JR Motorsports in the upcoming campaign.
The current driver of the No. 51 BRANDT Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports at the Sprint Cup level will move to the 2014 NXS drivers’ championship winning organization with sponsor BRANDT tagging along for the ride.
The 29-year-old out of Riverton, Ill. will take over the reins of the No. 7 Chevrolet for next year, assuming the ride from the outgoing Regan Smith.
Allgaier is no stranger to the XFINITY Series as he is a veteran of 174 races with three victories, 29 top-fives and 84 top-10s to his credit as well as four Coors Light Pole Awards to his name.
In the XFINITY ranks, Allgaier also holds a best finish of third in the drivers standings that came with Turner Scott Motorsports in 2011.
“I’m honored and excited to drive for JR Motorsports,” Allgaier said of his future team. “Having the ability to come to the track every week with a car capable of winning races and ultimately run for the XFINITY Series championship is the opportunity of a lifetime. And to have the support of BRANDT as we move to JR Motorsports means a lot to me, personally and professionally.
“It’s now time to get those BRANDT colors back up front and try to bring home a championship that they so very much deserve.”
Allgaier’s move to his new team with BRANDT next year will mark the sixth consecutive year that the two parties have been together in NASCAR.
BRANDT, a Springfield, Illinois-based company, will enter a multi-year deal with JR Motorsports and will serve as primary sponsor for the No. 7 Chevrolet in 18 of 33 races next year and a yet to be determined number of races in 2017.
“JR Motorsports is privileged to bring BRANDT and Justin back into the XFINITY Series,” Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports, said. “Much like JRM, BRANDT is also a family business that prides itself on being an industry leader.
“We’re excited to give both BRANDT and Justin a renewed avenue for success and look forward to what lies ahead in 2016 and beyond.”
Allgaier will be one of two drivers that JR Motorsports will field full-time next season as the former ARCA Racing Series champion will race with NASCAR veteran Elliott Sadler as a teammate in a OneMain Financial Chevrolet.
JR Motorsports will also field their No. 88 ‘star car’ in 2016 with drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick and Kasey Kahne thus far being confirmed for the car.
