RIDGEWAY, Va. – Joey Logano paced opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Martinsville Speedway on Friday afternoon after clocking a lap of 19.161 seconds at 98.826 mph.

Logano enters the first race of the Eliminator Round looking for his fourth win in a row. Last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, he became the first driver to sweep a round in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Back in March at the speedway, Logano started on the pole and finished third, so the Team Penske No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford team is fueled by plenty of momentum heading into the weekend.

Eight-time Martinsville Speedway winner, Jeff Gordon was second fastest, followed by Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Casey Mears.

Harvick had the best 10 consecutive lap average with an average speed of 95.762 mph. Kyle Busch was second with an average speed of 95.497, and Gordon was third with an average speed of 95.387 mph.

Up next for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is Coors Light Pole Qualifying that’ll broadcast live on NBC’s Live Extra at 4:20 p.m. ET. A tape delay will be shown on NBCSN at 6 p.m. ET.
