K&N West Leader Noah Gragson Making ARCA Debut at Kentuckyby Kyle Pokrefky September 23, 2015 0 comments
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Noah Gragson, championship leader of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, will make his debut in the ARCA Racing Series this Friday – driving a No. 78 Ford for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.
Gragson, 17, will make his debut in Friday’s Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway in a car that is to be sponsored by Alert ID – his sponsor in the K&N West series.
To earn the opportunity to race at Kentucky, Gragson was present at an ARCA-sanctioned test at the mile-and-a-half oval earlier today, testing alongside of his teammate for the weekend, Austin Wayne Self.
Participating in the afternoon session held at Kentucky on Tuesday, Gragson ran the 11th fastest lap time of the session and was faster than both Self and team owner Mason Mitchell.
For a driver who just broke into stock car racing at the beginning of the year, the Las Vegas native is already off to a hot start to his career – scoring two race victories at Tucson and Meridian in only 11 career K&N West starts.
“This year has been a big change for me,” Gragson said. “I started racing stock cars this year so I’ve had to adapt to the bigger cars and to the different tracks. After winning two NASCAR K&N Pro Series races so far this year, I know how important team work is.
“Having the opportunity to be making my ARCA debut with a championship winning team like Mason Mitchell Motorsports is a very humbling feeling. Knowing that I am in good equipment is a huge confidence boost for me. My ultimate goal this weekend is to learn as much as possible on and off the racetrack.”
The Crosley Brands 150 will air on FOX Sports 1 live on Friday night at 8:00 p.m ET.
