JOLIET, Ill. — Heavy rains washed out qualifying for Sunday’s MyAFibRisk.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway on Friday evening, handing the pole for the race to Kevin Harvick.

With the starting grid set by the NASCAR Rulebook, the field will line up on Sunday in order of first practice speeds.

With that, Harvick will lead Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., Austin Dillon, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon to the green flag.

“I am most proud of my team for having a fast race car to come to the track; having a plan and doing all the things they did to pay attention to the weather,” Harvick said of his practice run that led to the pole. “They put a lot emphasis on trying to lay a fast lap down just like everybody to get a good starting position with the way that the weather was.

“Rodney (Childers) and Mike (Bugarewicz) and everybody on the team have done a good job. Just proud of that. Obviously having the first pit stall and having good track position to start is important. To have it all work out today was really good for the team. Just proud of everybody.”

Chase drivers to start outside of the top-10 on Sunday are Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray and Carl Edwards from P11-to-P14, Paul Menard in P16, Dale Earnhardt Jr. in P19, Clint Bowyer in P26 and Denny Hamlin in P29.

While the starting grid was set by practice speeds, three drivers outside of the top-35 in points were left off of the grid for Sunday as Ryan Blaney, Travis Kvapil and Michael McDowell failed to qualify for the race.

Two practice sessions await the Sprint Cup Series on Saturday with a 55-minute session scheduled for 12:30 p.m CT and a 50-minute final practice session scheduled for 3:30 p.m CT.
