Brandon Jones Graduating to Full-Time in the XFINITY Series in 2016by Kyle Pokrefky September 25, 2015 0 comments
WELCOME, N.C. — 18-year-old Brandon Jones is readying his cap and gown for the end of the 2015 season as Richard Childress Racing has announced that he will run full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for the team.
Already signed to a partial schedule with the team to run their No. 33 Chevrolet in the XFINITY Series, the Atlanta native is making his fifth and final start of the year for the team in this Saturday’s VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
The winner in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and ARCA Racing Series ranks has been receiving a great share of track time this year – running a partial schedule with Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series and a partial schedule with GMS Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
To receive the opportunity to race full-time for the championship winning organization at the Sprint Cup, XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series level is nothing short of an honor for Jones.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to drive for RCR on a full-time basis in 2016,” Jones stated. “I’ve learned a lot working with the RCR organization and the No. 33 XFINITY Series team in 2015 and look forward to continuing my development, contribute to RCR’s success and produce positive results for all of my sponsors and fans.
“I’m excited to see what the 2016 season holds for me and our team. I look forward to setting my goals higher for the season because of the support from RCR, ECR Engines and Chevrolet.”
Even with only a handful of starts on his plate for RCR this year, Jones has done plenty to impress team owner Richard Childress.
“Brandon’s performance in his limited schedule with RCR this season has been very impressive,” Childress said. “We’re thrilled to provide him an opportunity in 2016 to showcase his talents over an entire XFINITY Series season.”
Details regarding his sponsor and the number of his Chevrolet Camaro for 2016 are expected at a later date.
Watch Jones make his final XFINITY Series start of the year at Kentucky Speedway tomorrow on NBCSN at 8:00 p.m ET.
