BROOKLYN, Mich. — Martin Truex Jr. put his No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet at the top of the scoring pylon in final practice for the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway late Saturday morning.

Truex Jr’s lap of 37.553 seconds was set late in the session and took the top spot away from last week’s Watkins Glen winner, Joey Logano – who posted a lap of 37.654 seconds.

Carl Edwards, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick completed the top-10 of the session’s standings.

Polesitter Matt Kenseth clocked in the 16th-fastest lap of the session in his No. 20 Dollar General Toyota while Kurt Busch, Michigan’s June winner, was the 15th-fastest driver of the 55-minute session.

David Ragan completed the most laps of the session with a total of 49 circuits completed while Travis Kvapil completed the fewest laps of the session with eight.

Of drivers to complete a run of 10 consecutive laps, Jamie McMurray was fastest with an average speed of 187.400 miles per hour during one of his runs.

Kyle Busch and Dillon both found themselves facing issues during the session with Busch bringing out the red flag early on after he spun off of Turn 4 and tore up the infield grass, forcing his No. 18 team to bring out their backup car.

Dillon’s engine in his No. 3 Dow Chevrolet went sour late in the session, however, no red flag was waved for his slowing car.
