CONCORD, N.C. — William Byron, current leader in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East standings, will try his hand at racing in the ARCA Racing Series on Friday night as he will make his series debut in the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway.
The 17-year-old Byron will partner with Venturini Motorsports for his debut in the team’s No. 55 car with sponsorship provided by his K&N Pro Series sponsor, Liberty University.
“I’m thrilled to become a part of Venturini Motorsports this weekend for the ARCA race at Lucas Oil Raceway,” Byron said. “The ARCA Series will be a new adventure for me. I’m confident in this program and know we have a shot at a strong finish. I love new challenges and I’m ready to compete this weekend.”
Byron currently holds a 29-point lead in the K&N Pro Series East standings with his No. 9 HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks team.
Through eight races this season, Byron has four wins, five top-fives, six top-10s and two pole positions. Of the 1,122 laps he has completed this season in the K&N Pro Series East, Byron has spent 50.4-percent of them in the lead.
Prior to jumping into an ARCA car this upcoming Friday, the Charlotte, N.C. native got some seat time at Lucas Oil Raceway last week in a test with the Venturini organization that team General Manager, Billy Venturini, called ‘fantastic.’
“William had a fantastic test at LOR last week,” Venturini said. “He is a pleasure to work with and I’m really looking forward to having the opportunity to contend for the win with him this week.”
Entering Friday night’s event, Venturini Motorsports’s No. 55 entry presently sits fourth in the owners standings with the car going to victory lane once this season with Todd Gilliland at Toledo Speedway.
