SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Exiting Sunday’s Crown Royal presents the Jeff Kyle 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NASCAR announced on Wednesday that one Sprint Cup team has been penalized following the race.
The No. 98 Premium Motorsports team was assessed a P3-level penalty and was found in violation of sections 12:1, 22.214.171.124.1 and 20.3.5 of the NASCAR rulebook.
The team, which fielded a Ford for Timmy Hill at Indianapolis, was found violating these sections of the rulebook after an unattached weight left the car during Friday practice.
As a result of these violations, crew chief Scott Eggleston has been fined $25,000 and has been suspended for the upcoming weekend’s Windows 10 400 at Pocono Raceway as well as being placed on NASCAR probation through the end of the year.
Car chief Kevin Eagle was also suspended for Sunday’s race at Pocono and was also placed on NASCAR probation through the remainder of the calendar year.
The No. 98 car’s owner, Mike Curb, will also lose 15 owner points. Exiting Indianapolis, the No. 98 team sat 39th in the owners standings.
