STATESVILLE, N.C. — Front Row Motorsports has named 22-year-old Brett Moffitt as the primary driver of their No. 34 Ford Fusion for the remainder of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
Moffitt will complete this year’s schedule for the team after already completing three races in the car thus far this year at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway and Kansas Speedway.
In those three starts, Moffitt turned in respective finishes of 37th, 32nd and 34th and was running at the finish in each race.
“I am excited for the opportunity to be in a Sprint Cup car on a weekly basis,” Moffitt said. “The most important thing for me at this point of my career is seat time, going to some of these tracks that are new to me, and racing around 42 other drivers in race conditions. And the more time I spend in the 34 car and with this team, the more competitive we’ll get. And I think that consistency will lead to some good finishes.”
The Grimes, Iowa native has had six other starts in the Sprint Cup Series this year – all with Michael Waltrip Racing in the team’s No. 55 Toyota.
In those six starts, Moffitt recorded a best finish of eighth in his first start of the year at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Returning to the seat for next week’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Moffitt will do so with sponsorship from CSX adorning the hood of his car.
The sponsor will return to the car for multiple races this season with a message promoting railroad safety towards the 18-to-34-year-old demographic.
