CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Friday afternoon, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series took to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the one and only Sprint Showdown practice session.

Austin Dillon in the No. 3 Dow Chevrolet topped the speed chart with a lap of 28.528 seconds at 189.288 mph on Friday. Dillon was the only driver to clock a lap over 189 mph.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle was second on the board. None of the Roush Fenway Racing cars are locked into the Sprint All-Star Race, so Friday night’s Sprint Showdown will certainly be crucial to the organization. His teammates, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne finished out the session in ninth and 16th.

Martin Truex Jr. was third, followed by Paul Menard. Danica Patrick rounded out the top-five.

Austin Dillon also had the best 10 consecutive lap average with an average speed of 189.966 mph. Paul Menard was second with an average speed of 184.816 mph and Greg Biffle was third with an average speed of 184.757 mph.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sprint Showdown will broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 and the Performance Racing Network (PRN) at 7:15 p.m. tonight.
