Daytona International Speedway to Feature Red Bull Global Rallycross Doubleheader Eventby Alanis King April 22, 2015 0 comments
Daytona International Speedway will see double the action from Red Bull Global Rallycross this summer, as announced by the series on Wednesday.
The schedule for the Father’s Day Weekend event has been rearranged and GRC will now host a doubleheader in its second-consecutive year to run at DIS on June 19-21. Practice and qualifying rounds will occur on Friday, June 19, and Saturday and Sunday will each feature a points-paying championship round.
“We’re excited to be able to add another championship round to the weekend schedule and grow this event,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said in a release.
The summer stop will mark the second-consecutive year in which DIS has been a stop on the GRC schedule, and Chitwood had high praise for the action that occurred last year on the circuit that utilizes parts of the Daytona road course.
“The inaugural Red Bull Global Rallycross in 2014 produced non-stop action on the course,” Chitwood said. “To be able to add a second championship round for the 2015 event gives race fans another opportunity to see how exciting this form of racing can be.”
