FORT WORTH, Texas — Austin Dillon led the way in opening practice for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway with a lap of 29.527 seconds set on Thursday afternoon.

This year’s winner of Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway set a lap in his No. 33 Ruud Chevrolet that was over a tenth of a second quicker than the next fastest driver of the session, Sam Hornish Jr., who ran a lap of 29.654 seconds.

Completing the top-10 of the session’s standings were Elliott Sadler, Ty Dillon, Erik Jones, Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brian Scott, Chase Elliott and Regan Smith.

With qualifying trim being tested out in the opening 60-minute session of the weekend, no driver made a run of 10 consecutive laps.
