Stewart-Haas Racing Paces Saturday’s Practice Sessions In Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. – On Saturday, it was the Chevrolets of Stewart-Haas Racing topping the speed chart in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series second and final practice sessions.

Second Practice

Kurt Busch made a statement on Saturday morning when he paced second practice with a lap of 26.322 seconds at 136.768 mph. This weekend marks Busch’s first weekend back on the track since he was suspended by NASCAR in February at Daytona International Speedway. Brad Keselowski clocked the second fastest lap, followed by this weekend’s Coors Light Pole Award winner, Kevin Harvick. Jamie McMurray was fourth fastest, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top-five.

Keselowski also had the best 10 consecutive lap average with an average speed of 135.381 mph. Kasey Kahne was second with an average speed of 135.380 mph and Martin Truex Jr. who’s having a phenomenal season was third with an average speed of 135.257 mph.

Final Practice

Kevin Harvick set the fastest lap with a time of 26.363 seconds at 136.555 mph in final practice on Saturday afternoon. Matt Kenseth was second, and Kurt Busch was third. Joey Logano was fourth, followed by Jamie McMurray in fifth.

Harvick had the best 10 consecutive lap average, as well. Over the course of 10 laps, his average speed was 135.784 mph. His Stewart-Haas Racing teammate, Kurt Busch was second with an average speed of 135.378 mph. Kyle Larson was third with an average speed of 135.299 mph.
