HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Reed Sorenson has landed himself a ride for the Daytona 500 with Team Xtreme Racing in a one-race deal.

Sorenson, who competed in the Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2014 with Tommy Baldwin Racing, will pilot the team’s No. 44 Chevrolet at Daytona with sponsorship being provided by Golden Corral.

Serving as crew chief for the 29-year-old from Peachtree City, Georgia, will be Peter Sospenzo, who will return as crew chief for the No. 44 Team Xtreme Racing machine.

“The Daytona 500 is always an exciting time of year, I am really looking forward to racing with Team Xtreme for the biggest race of the year,” Sorenson said. “We’ve got a great looking Golden Corral Chevrolet and I want to see us feed some kids on Monday with the ‘Top 10 Kids Eat Free’ promotion.”

In 2014, Team Xtreme Racing – then under the moniker of Xxxtreme Motorsports competed in eight Sprint Cup races with drivers Timmy Hill and J.J. Yeley and recorded a best finish of 34th at Sonoma Raceway with Yeley.

After putting in plenty of work on overhauling his racing program, Team Xtreme Racing’s owner, John Cohen, says that his organization has made advances with its racing package over the offseason.

“The 44 team has been hard at work over the offseason,” Cohen said. “We have made some big steps to further our efforts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and it all begins at Daytona.

“Hiring Reed Sorenson to drive for us at the 500 was the right move for our team, he excels at restrictor plate racing and we are excited to get to Daytona.”
