AUSTIN, Tex. – In an invitational, no-points event, Red Bull Global Rallycross (GRC) is slated to return to Texas’ state capital on June 5-6, 2015 for this year’s edition of ESPN’s X Games Austin.

While the series returns to Circuit of the Americas for the second year in a row and the X Games itself for the fifth year, the event will be unique from previous runnings in that no championship points will be awarded to competitors. The X Games round features an invitational format, different from other stops on the schedule, which consisted of a six-car final in 2014. This year’s format is set to be announced at a later date.

Typical of the X Games round of the schedule, drivers from multiple rally and rallycross disciplines join GRC competitors for the star-studded event. This year, however, will make for perhaps the most competitive running yet, due to the no-points, exhibition format for the first time in the series’ five-year history. Just as the one-off drivers who frequent the event, such as Travis Pastrana, Liam Doran and past champion Toomas Heikkinen, championship contenders will be liberated of the responsibilities that come with a point-awarding race, making for an all-out fight for the X Games gold.

X Games Austin will span from June 4-7, and GRC events will be run on Friday and Saturday during the weekend. Friday, June 5 will feature qualifying rounds and heat races, and the final heats, as well as main event, will be run on Saturday, June 6.

More information regarding the race format and driver entries will be available closer to the date on the Red Bull Global Rallycross website (, and ticketing information for the weekend can be found at
