SALISBURY, N.C. — 2010 Snowball Derby winner Johanna Long is making her way back to NASCAR after a year-long hiatus with Mike Affarano Motorsports this year.

Long, 22, will run on a part-time basis in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series for MAM this season with her first start in the XFINITY Series coming in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on February 21st.

The Pensacola, Florida, native last competed on NASCAR’s national stage in 2013 when she competed part-time for ML Motorsports in the XFINITY Series.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to race this season with Mike Affarano Motorsports,” Long said. “In a time when drivers are pressured to bring sponsorship money to teams in order to race, it was great to have my phone ring and be approached because of my talent.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to get back behind the wheel and gain valuable experience with Mike Affarano Motorsports.”

Long has had plenty of experience behind the wheel of a stock car already in both the Camping World Truck Series and XFINITY Series.

In the Camping World Truck Series, Long has 24 career starts across 2010 and 2011 while in the XFINITY Series, she has 41 career starts in 2012 and 2013.

Long will utilize some strong Chevrolet Camaros in her XFINITY Series return at Daytona as her new team owner, Mike Affarano, a driver in the Camping World Truck Series himself, has acquired several cars from the now defunct Turner Scott Motorsports stable.

“We are thrilled to have Johanna behind the wheel for 2015,” Affarano said. “She has such drive and determination that will represent our team well on and off the track, and we know she’s great with attracting sponsors and fans. We’re looking forward to growing and progressing as a company together this season.”

Mike Affarano Motorsports and the No. 03 XFINITY Series team are still seeking sponsors for the upcoming season and for Daytona.
