STATESVILLE, N.C. — NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Joey Coulter is moving to a brand new role at GMS Racing for the upcoming season.

Unable to land sponsorship for this year, Coulter, the 2014 driver of GMS’ No. 21 Chevrolet in the Truck Series, is transitioning out of a driving position with the team to become the organization’s Team Relationships Coordinator.

In his new role, Coulter will serve as a vital part of GMS Racing’s marketing and public relations departments as well as serving as support for the team’s competitive efforts.

“I am excited to continue my relationship with GMS Racing,” Coulter said. “Unfortunately, due to a lack of sponsorship I will not be in a truck this season.

“Taking on a new position with GMS allows me to continue my involvement in the racing community and also stay involved as a driver with my family’s dirt racing program. So I get the best of both worlds.”

Coulter, 24, finished the 2014 Camping World Truck Series season seventh in points with three top-fives and 10 top-10 finishes coming in 22 starts.

The Miami Springs, Florida, native was the only driver to run a full season last year for the team. Spencer Gallagher, Max Gresham, and Brandon Jones respectively completed schedules of nine, five, and two races for the organization in the Truck Series last season.

Outside of the Camping World Truck Series, the team also competed in the ARCA Racing Series in 2014 with Gallagher, Grant Enfinger, and Scott Sheldon driving for the team.

No announcements have been made just yet regarding GMS Racing’s racing plans for the 2015 season; the team’s plans on what series they will be racing in and who will be driving for them are expected to be revealed very soon as the team irons out some ‘minor details.’
