DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — As was the case in December’s two days of open testing at Daytona International Speedway for the ARCA Racing Series, Empire Racing looked strong in the final day of preseason testing at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

The organization swept the top three positions on the speed chart with Sean Corr leading the way over teammates Austin Hill and Patrick Staropoli with his lap time of 47.951 seconds while Hill and Staropoli turned in respective lap times of 48.086 and 48.096 seconds.

Matt Kurzejewski followed the three Empire Racing Fords in the fourth position with a lap time of 48.121 seconds in a Brian Keselowski-owned Dodge.

New Venturini Motorsports teammates Brandon Jones and Frank Kimmel were able to back up their organization’s speed from December with their respective lap times of 48.131 and 48.141 seconds, quick enough for fifth and sixth on the speed chart.

Ryan Heavner, Will Kimmel, Daniel Hemric, and 2014 series champion Mason Mitchell rounded out the top-10 with respective lap times of 48.183, 48.189, 48.217, and 48.257 seconds.

Not unlike the open testing sessions held in December, much of the early stages of the day were used for single car runs with the closing hours of the session utilized for drafting practice.

Friday’s test session was noteworthy as being the official on-track debut of the new composite ARCA body that the series will use on tracks that are one mile or less this season in an ARCA-sanctioned event.

As the body will not be eligible for use on larger tracks until the 2016 season, few teams elected to test the new body at Daytona on Friday. Will Kimmel, driver of the No. 69 Kimmel Racing Ford, did however elect to test the new body at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

With testing at Daytona officially wrapped up for the preseason, the ARCA Racing Series now looks ahead to its season-opening 80-lapper at the track – the Lucas Oil 200 – that will kick off the ARCA season on Saturday, February 14th.
