STATESVILLE, N.C. — Front Row Motorsports are expanding their operation to three full-time teams for the 2015 season as it was announced on Friday morning that Cole Whitt will join the team to run the full season.

Whitt, a competitor for Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year honors last season, will race the No. 35 Ford Fusion with sponsorship being picked up by Speed Stick for 10 races. Whitt was previously sponsored by the antiperspirant product as a primary sponsor for 11 points races in 2014.

The 23-year-old from Alpine, California, will join David Ragan and David Gilliland as Front Row Motorsports’s full-time drivers for the upcoming year.

Talk of Whitt moving to Front Row Motorsports has existed for several months now as a previous report made by Whitt’s former BK Racing co-owner, Anthony Marlowe, in November linked the young driver to Ragan’s No. 34 Ford for this season, a report that a FRM representative immediately denied.

“I’m really excited and grateful for the opportunity to go racing with Front Row Motorsports and continue my relationship with Speed Stick,” Whitt said. “Bob Jenkins is a smart businessman and has grown his team the right way over the years, and I’m really looking forward to being a part of that growth.

“The 2014 season was great for me as a driver. We had some important personal victories and some areas where we’ll want to improve.”

Crew chief Randy Cox will make the move over to Front Row Motorsports with Whitt from BK Racing to serve as his crew chief for the upcoming season.

Whitt and Cox both join a team that combined to grab a single Coors Light Pole Award with Gilliland at Daytona in July and a single top-10 finish with Ragan at Martinsville in October in 76 combined starts (Blake Koch and David Reutimann ran the No. 35 for four races in 2014.)

Gilliland and Ragan respectively finished the 2014 season 30th and 32nd in the drivers’ standings.

Front Row Motorsports’s team owner, Bob Jenkins, issued a statement regarding the growth of the organization with adding the second-year driver to his roster.

“This is an exciting time for Front Row Motorsports,” Jenkins said. “Adding Cole Whitt to our program, along with the support of the Speed Stick team, is another big step in our growth as a young team.

“We’re going to have a diverse mix of experience with our drivers, which, I think, is going to be a big benefit for everyone.”
