HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Alex Bowman is changing gears this year by moving over to Tommy Baldwin Racing for the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Bowman, 21, will take over as driver for the team’s No. 7 Chevrolet for the entirety of the 2015 season, moving over to the team from BK Racing for his sophomore year in Sprint Cup.

“I’m looking forward to working with TBR and the entire No. 7 team,” Bowman said. “With Tommy’s experience and his drive to run competitively, I feel like we can run well this year.”

In 2014, Bowman finished his rookie season sixth in the rookie standings with a best finish of 13th coming at Daytona in July in the Coke Zero 400.

Prior to his rookie season in Sprint Cup, Bowman competed for RAB Racing in the XFINITY Series in 2013 and full-time in the ARCA Racing Series in 2012, finishing fourth in the standings with Cunningham Motorsports.

In a statement announcing the acquisition of Bowman, team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. fully endorsed his newly-signed driver by labeling him as the future of his organization.

“Alex is the future of TBR, and he will be a great representative of our team,” Baldwin Jr. stated. “He is a young driver who displayed a great talent in both the XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series the past few years. We are pleased to give Alex the opportunity to further showcase his skills behind the wheel of the No. 7 Chevrolet this season.”

The No. 7 machine will be sponsored by Toy State for the first five races of the season. Further announcements regarding other sponsors and other details surrounding the team’s 2015 effort are expected within the week.
