MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Rico Abreu, winner of the 2015 Chili Bowl, is about to embark on a new chapter of his career as he will race full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2015.

Abreu, 22, will pilot a No. 98 Chevrolet for the newly-formed ‘HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks’ to compete for the 2015 K&N East series title alongside teammates William Byron, J.J. Haley, Scott Heckert, and Dalton Sargeant.

“Joining HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks is a great opportunity for me,” Abreu said. “As a full-time open-wheel driver on dirt, I’m aware that there will be a learning curve for me this season.

“Knowing that Harry (Scott) and Justin (Marks) have faith in me to be successful in stock cars is a great confidence boost. I’m up for the challenge and look forward to learning from my teammates and making the most out of this season.”

The native of Rutherford, California, will make his NASCAR debut on February 15th at New Smyrna Speedway for the K&N East season opener and will make his stock car debut at New Smyrna in a late model race this Saturday, January 20th.

Abreu has proven that he is a talented race car driver as he is the 2014 champion of USAC’s National Midget Dirt championship and was a winner of 26 different races in over 100 starts on dirt last year.

This talent is what attracted Scott and Marks, a co-owner with Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson of Larson Marks Racing – a competitive team in the World of Outlaws, towards signing Abreu for his brand new K&N Pro East Series race team.

“Rico is a driver that has already proven to himself on so many levels in his young career,” Marks said.  “I can’t wait to see what Rico and his fellow teammates accomplish this year in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.”

Scott, owner of a Sprint Cup Series team for Justin Allgaier and a partner with Chip Ganassi in the XFINITY Series, also praised Abreu’s exceptional talent in a sprint car.

“Rico has remarkable talent and is a great fit for this organization,” Scott said. “The addition of Rico to our stout lineup of drivers raises our level of excitement even higher going into the 2015 season.”
