CONCORD, N.C. — Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Cody Coughlin is scheduled to return to Venturini Motorsports for a second partial season in the ARCA Racing Series in 2015.

Coughlin, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday, will race in 10 events for Venturini Motorsports next season with his first start of the season scheduled to be in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in February.

Coughlin’s No. 55 Toyota will be funded by sponsorship from family business JEGS for his sophomore season in the ARCA Racing Series.

“This is something I’ve always wanted, to be able to do in my chosen profession, so I am excited about it,” Coughlin said. “Venturini Motorsports has always had fast cars at Daytona, including winning the pole for last year’s event.

“I am looking forward to running more ARCA events. It is a great series with good leadership and competition to learn from, and the experiences you get on the speedways are priceless. I am excited to start the season at Daytona in February.”

The third-generation race car driver out of Delaware, Ohio, will have a chance to log some laps at Daytona before the end of the year as he has been entered to test for VMS at the 2.5-mile superspeedway this upcoming Friday and Saturday.

This season, Coughlin completed 11 races for Venturini Motorsports, picking up three top-fives and eight top-10s with a best finish of fourth recorded twice at Kentucky and Kansas at the end of the year.

Venturini Motorsports’ General Manager, Billy Venturini, spoke of Coughlin’s growth and maturity as a driver throughout the 2014 season in a statement posted to venturinimotorsports.com.

“I am looking forward to Cody being a part of Venturini Motorsports again,” Venturini said. “He showed incredible growth throughout the entire season and I think there are great things to come in the 2015 season.

“He matured so much throughout the season personally and professionally. When you get a driver in his age range, a year can truly make a difference and it sure did with Cody with his skills behind the wheel.

“We expect to win races with him and I feel like we should contend at every event we go to.”

Further announcements regarding the rest of Venturini Motorsports’ 2015 driver lineup are expected after the holidays.
