Bayne And Bowman Fast In Practice At Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – Trevor Bayne clocked the fastest lap during first practice on Thursday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Alex Bowman led the way in final practice.

During the opening NASCAR Nationwide Series practice, Bayne not only had the fastest lap, but he also had the best 10 consecutive lap average. Bayne’s fastest lap was 29.858 seconds at 180.856 mph. He’s coming off an 11th place finish at Kansas Speedway. Bayne is also pulling double duty this weekend as he competes for Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Kyle Busch was second fastest in first practice, followed by Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski and Brian Scott.

Alex Bowman clocked a lap of 29.794 seconds at 181.245 mph to top the chart in final practice. He was 11th during the first session. Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski was second, followed by Dylan Kwasniewski, Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch.

Chase Elliott had the best 10 consecutive lap average with an average speed of 177.995 mph; however he didn’t fare too well overall. During the first session Elliott was eighth quickest, and in the final session, he was sixth. His JR Motorsports teammate, Regan Smith was 14th in first practice and 20th in final practice.

Up next for the NASCAR Nationwide Series is Coors Light Pole Qualifying at 4:10 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The BCBS of NC Drive for the Cure 300 will be live on ESPN 2 and the Performance Racing Network (PRN) at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday night.
