JOLIET, Ill. — Ryan Blaney paced the field in first practice for Friday night’s Lucas Oil 225, running a lap of 30.816 seconds to place his No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford at the top of the speed chart after 60 minutes of practice.

Blaney would outrun a pack of Toyotas to claim the title of fastest driver in practice, outrunning Jeb Burton, Erik Jones, Darrell Wallace Jr., and Johnny Sauter. Sprint Cup rookie and former Camping World Truck Series champion Austin Dillon would run sixth-quickest and would be followed by Brennan Newberry, Joey Coulter, German Quiroga, and John Wes Townley to round out the top-10.

Drivers would utilize their drafting skills throughout the practice with Blaney, Jones, and Wallace setting the early pace by running nose-to-tail early on in the session, a possible preview of the strategy that will be present in qualifying and potentially the race tomorrow.

Two early caution flags would fly during practice, one for fluid reported from the No. 12 Chevrolet of Ted Minor and one for metal debris that was reported on the race track.

A final practice session of 90 minutes is scheduled to kick off at Chicagoland Speedway at 3:30 p.m EST/2:30 p.m CST. This session will conclude the on-track action in Joliet for the Camping World Truck Series for the day.
