CONCORD, N.C. – Rain washed out all NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series track activity shortly after Round One of Nitro Eliminations at zMAX Dragway during the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

The day started off with cloudy conditions, but there was only a very slight chance of rain. However, that didn’t stop Mother Nature. During the first round of NHRA Pro Stock eliminations, V Gaines barrel rolled down the track, crossing the line in first over Allen Johnson. Damage to the racing surface resulted in a significant halt to the race action. While track crews worked to resolve the issue, the skies opened up, postponing the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals.

All of the remaining elimination rounds for Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will be run next weekend in Dallas at the Texas Motorplex.

The following drivers were set to compete against each other in Round Two:

Top-Fuel
J.R. Todd vs Spencer Massey; Billy Torrence vs. Tony Schumacher; Steve Torrence vs. Leah Prichett; and Morgan Lucas vs. Khalid alBalooshi

Funny Car
Dave Richards vs. John Force; Bob Tasca III vs. Ron Capps; Robert Hight vs. Jeff Arend; Matt Hagan vs. Tim Wilkerson
