LOUDON, N.H. — NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Matt Crafton has been tabbed as a standby driver for Clint Bowyer for the SYLVANIA 300 race weekend.

Bowyer is expecting his first child with his wife, Lorra, this week and may require a backup driver to take over the No. 15 5-Hour Energy Toyota should Lorra go into labor at anytime this weekend.

Crafton, the current driver of the No. 88 Menards Toyota for ThorSport Racing in the Camping World Truck Series is present at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Truck Series’ UNOH 175.

Crafton, a five-time race winner in the Truck Series, is no stranger to being on standby for full-time Sprint Cup drivers.

Crafton previously stood by for Paul Menard during this year’s race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway due to Menard and his wife expecting a baby that weekend. Menard would ultimately not require a backup as he would be able to complete that weekend’s Kobalt 400.

The current Camping World Truck Series points leader would, however, standby and race Menard’s No. 27 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in Daytona testing earlier in the year. Crafton stood in for Menard due to a burst pipe in Menard’s home.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Bowyer has been able to run his Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota through three practices and through qualifying this weekend. Crafton will still remain on standby for Bowyer for today’s 300-lap race.
