MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Team Penske have announced that seventh-year Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano has reached an agreement with the team to extend his current contract for multiple years.

Logano, the current driver of the No. 22 Ford for the team, is presently in his second year with the Team Penske organization.

In his short tenure at Penske, Logano has delivered the team five Sprint Cup wins and three Nationwide Series wins and has qualified for the Chase in both years. The 24-year-old from Middletown, Connecticut, currently sits second in the Sprint Cup drivers’ standings and presently holds a berth into the second round of the Chase – the Contender Round.

In a statement released by Team Penske, Logano spoke about the success he has had at Team Penske thus far and praised the quality of the organization that he has earned five Sprint Cup victories for.

“I am fortunate and excited to be a part of Team Penske for the foreseeable future,” Logano said. “Mr. Penske gives us everything we need to keep our eye on the prize and and compete for wins and championships. I think that is clear by the number of wins we have across the board this year.

“I’m fortunate to represent great companies like Ford, Shell-Pennzoil, AAA, AutoTrader.com, Discount Tire, Hertz, and all of the great partners we have here at Team Penske. I think our best years are in front of us for sure.”

Team owner Roger Penske also issued a statement on the resigning of Logano.

“Joey Logano has been everything we hoped he would be, both as a driver and as a representative of our organization and for our partners,” Penske said. “He continues to put points on the board for us and the continuity and chemistry he has developed within the team has been terrific. We believe he can be a leader and championship-level driver for Team Penske for years to come.”

Logano’s initial contract with Team Penske was a two-year contract that was set to expire at the end of this year. Reportedly, with the signing of this extension, Logano will drive for Team Penske through the 2018 season.
