JOLIET, Ill. — For the second time this year, Brian Scott will lead the Nationwide Series field to green at Chicagoland Speedway after he took the pole for today’s Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast 300.

Scott ran a lap of 29.767 seconds in the last of three qualifying rounds at Chicago to take his fifth career Nationwide Series pole and his third at Chicagoland. The driver of the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet would sneak ahead of Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch midway through the final qualifying round to grab the Coors Light Pole Award for the race.

Rounding out the top-10 on the grid will be Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Paul Menard, Chris Buescher, Ty Dillon, Kevin Harvick, and Aric Almirola.

Round one qualifying would cut the field down to 24 – eliminating Landon Cassill, Dakoda Armstrong, Will Kimmel, Kevin Swindell, and Jeffrey Earnhardt from pole contention. Round two would eliminate a further 12 drivers – Elliott Sadler, Trevor Bayne, Brendan Gaughan, Denny Hamlin, and James Buescher.

The last four Chicagoland Nationwide Series races have been won from top-seven starting positions, however, a top-10 starting position isn’t necessary to win at this track as four of the 17 races completed here have been won from outside of the top-10. The pole-sitter at Chicagoland has went on to win only once in the track’s history with Busch in this race last year.

With 44 drivers entered for this weekend, four drivers would not make the field – John Jackson, Morgan Shepherd, Mike Harmon, and Carl Long.

The green flag for the  Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast 300 at approximately 3:46 p.m EST/2:46 p.m EST. ESPN will carry the race on television.
