Custer On Pole With Record Lap At New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. – Cole Custer will sit on the pole for today’s UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after a record setting lap of 28.877 seconds at 131.897 mph.

This is the 16-year old’s second pole of the 2014 season. He sat on the pole at Gateway Motorsports Park back in June. Custer is a member of the NASCAR Next program. He also led the way during final practice on Friday afternoon.

Cameron Hayley, 17-year old NASCAR Next driver will start second after clocking a lap of 28.933 seconds at 131.642 mph.

Point leader, Matt Crafton was unable to make a qualifying lap due to an electrical issue. He will start last for today’s race. His ThorSport Racing teammate, Johnny Sauter who’s also second in the point standings will start 18th.

The UNOH 175 will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. EST on Fox Sports 1.
