BRISTOL, Tenn. — Less than one week after being diagnosed with a concussion after a hard wreck in practice at Michigan, Ryan Truex has been cleared to return to his No. 83 BK Racing Toyota for this Saturday’s IRWIN Tools Night Race at Bristol.

Truex hit the Turn 2 wall at the Michigan International Speedway head-on last Saturday in an impact hard enough to send the 22-year-old from Stafford Township, New Jersey to a local hospital from the track’s infield care center.

Truex complained of a headache and shoulder pain after his hit and would undergo CT scans on his upper body. With the scans coming up negative, doctors would conclude that the Sprint Cup rookie suffered a concussion; thus, he would be forced to sit out of last Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400.

In his place, BK Racing tabbed J.J. Yeley as the replacement in the No. 83 Burger King Toyota for the 200-lap race. Come race day, Yeley would finish 30th as a substitute while running as high as 27th in the early stages of the race.

With Truex being medically cleared to compete in all of this upcoming weekend’s race events, BK Racing have decided to immediately place the Rookie of the Year candidate back in his full-time ride instead of holding him out as a precautionary measure.

With that, Truex will be ready to race in his the No. 83 Burger King Toyota and will be looking to improve on the 42nd-place result he earned at Bristol in March. Yeley himself will be in action as well in the No. 32 Corvette Parts/Red Buck Premium Ford for Go FAS Racing.
