RAB Racing have announced that Milka Duno will run in select races for the operation in the Nationwide Series this season.

Duno will partner with RAB Racing for an unspecified number of races this year with her debut race in the organization’s No. 29 Toyota yet to be determined. The No. 29 entry is currently 44th in the owners’ standings and would have to qualify into each race it is entered in based on speed should it be entered for a race with more than 40 competitors. The exact sponsorship details for Duno’s ride with RAB Racing have yet to be announced. Duno will partner with crew chief Chris Rice for her foray into the Nationwide Series; Rice served RAB Racing as the crew chief for the No. 99 Toyota all of last year and served as James Buescher’s crew chief in the No. 99 for the first 14 races of this season.

The 42-year-old from Caracas, Venezuela, has previous experience racing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (then Grand-Am Rolex), in IndyCar, and in the ARCA Racing Series as recently as last year. Duno has not raced competitively in any racing series this year and is presently a commentator for Univision Deportes’ Formula One broadcast team. Duno finished seventh in the ARCA Racing Series’ drivers’ championship last year for Venturini Motorsports with two top-10 finishes and a highest race finish of eighth coming at Salem Speedway last April. She also is a former race winner in sports car racing with eight total race wins coming in the prototype classes of the former Grand-Am Rolex and American Le Mans Series sanctioning bodies.

Duno spoke on the opportunity to drive for RAB Racing in her entry into NASCAR on a statement released on

I’m really very excited and honored to enter into NASCAR and the Nationwide Series,” Duno stated. “It has always been a goal and dream of mine to compete in NASCAR and I worked very hard in ARCA to turn this goal into a reality.”

Duno will also attempt to become the first woman of hispanic heritage to race in NASCAR, a feat that would bring the native Venezuelan an immense amount of pride.

“I always strive to challenge myself as a driver and I’ve been fortunate to compete in many types of racing – and while the competition is always my number one focus – I am very proud of the history that I have made as a female driver, and the Hispanic sports history as well, that has been made along the way,” Duno continued. “NASCAR is the most competitive and popular racing series in the USA and I’m very proud to enter the series with RAB Racing and I look forward to competing with them in their No. 29 Toyota Camry.”

RAB Racing owner Robby Benton also issued a statement on on what led to the decision for his organization to approach the sports car racing veteran for a part-time NASCAR contract.

“We’ve watched Milka develop in the ARCA Racing Series and feel she is prepared for the next step in her stock car racing career,” Benton stated. “I think that working together with Chris Rice, Milka can find a home in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. She has a very strong fan base and we hope we can attract them to follow her in her NASCAR endeavors. Milka is very intelligent and educated and we look forward to working with her.”
