BROOKLYN, Mich. – Kevin Harvick was fastest in second practice on Saturday, while pole sitter, Jeff Gordon set the fastest time in final practice.

Second Practice

Ford Racing set the pace in first practice, but as the weekend progressed, the Chevrolet drivers started showing their horsepower, as well. Only one Ford cracked the top-five in second practice and that was Richard Petty Motorsports’, Marcos Ambrose in fifth.

Ryan Truex endured a scary crash during second practice. His No. 83 Burger King Toyota Camry got loose exiting turn two and when he tried to correct it, Truex hit the wall head on, eventually sliding to a screeching halt along the backstretch. Truex didn’t immediately pull the window net down, but he did climb out of the car under his own power. He was later transported to the hospital for further observations. There has been no update on his condition.

Kevin Harvick set the fastest time overall, but rookie, Kyle Larson had the best 10 consecutive lap average during second practice.

Final Practice

In final practice, Jeff Gordon clocked the fastest lap, followed by Kyle Larson. Brad Keselwoski in third and Greg Biffle in fifth carried the Ford banner inside the top-five. One manufacture that hasn’t made any noise this weekend is Toyota. The fastest Toyota driver in final practice was Clint Bowyer in 14th.

Jimmie Johnson, who was absolutely terrible on Friday due to a vibration, finally cracked the top-10 as he clocked the eighth fastest time in final practice.

Jeff Gordon had the fastest best 10 consecutive lap average, followed by Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle.
