MARNE, Mich. — Brennan Poole (Venturini Motorsports) and Mason Mitchell (Mason Mitchell Motorsports) found themselves sitting atop the speed chart after the first and second practices for tonight’s Federated Auto Parts 200 concluded at the Berlin Raceway.

Poole ran a lap of 17.029 seconds in the first session to sit atop the scoring pylon in the afternoon while Mitchell ran a lap slightly slower at 17.030 seconds in the final practice session to top the speed chart in the later afternoon session. Both Poole and Mitchell would run in the top-10 in both sessions, a feat accomplished by Tom Hessert (Cunningham Motorsports), Justin Boston (Venturini Motorsports), Austin Wayne Self (Cunningham Motorsports), Kyle Weatherman (Roulo Brothers Racing), Frank Kimmel (Win-Tron RAcing), Grant Enfinger (GMS Racing), and J.J. Haley (Venturini Motorsports) as well.

The opening practice for tonight’s 200-lap event was delayed for under a half-hour as the raceway did not have an ambulance available at the track. An ambulance must be on-hand at the track at all times when the ARCA Racing Series’ competitors are on track for any official session. The delay caused both practices to be slightly delayed, however, qualifying and the Federated Auto Parts 200 itself will start at their regular times tonight.

Both practice sessions were completed with several small incidents occurring during them. The first session brought about a spin by the No. 69 Gary Yeomans Ford of Michael Lira (Kimmel Racing) and had Ken Schrader (Ken Schrader Racing) pull his car behind the wall with potential engine issues while the second session featured a brief halt when the No. 66 Venturini Motorsports Toyota of Jeff MacZink (Venturini Motorsports) came to a stop underneath the racing line in Turn 1.
