Tool-contructing conglomerate 3M have announced today that they will partner with Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in a three-year deal stretching from the 2015-to-2017 seasons.

3M, a long-time sponsor for Roush-Fenway Racing and Greg Biffle, will move to the hood of the No. 24 Chevrolet currently driven by Jeff Gordon for 11 races starting next year and will appear as an associate sponsor in all other races. With 3M partnering with Gordon next year, the No. 24 team now have their entire season covered in terms of sponsorship. Joining 3M as sponsors for the No. 24 team next year will be Drive to End Hunger (13), Axalta (10), Pepsi (2), and Panasonic (2.)

Hendrick Motorsports’ team owner, Rick Hendrick, spoke in a statement released this morning on hendrickmotorsports.com on the diversity of his team’s new sponsor.

“The range of 3M’s business is just incredible,” Hendrick stated. “It’s an amazingly diverse company that spends billions in research and development to continue rolling out new and innovative products. We’re already using many of them throughout the organization, and when you consider the potential for both consumer and business-to-business programs connected to our sport, the possibilities are endless.”

Gordon himself spoke of his excitement in having a sponsor like 3M join his team for next season.

“Innovation is what 3M is known for,” Gordon stated. “We’ve seen that approach throughout their involvement in NASCAR, and it’s a terrific fit for what we do at Hendrick Motorsports and with the No. 24 team. I’m personally excited about the opportunities and thrilled to represent a company that’s so passionately supported auto racing for such a long time.”

With 3M moving away from Roush-Fenway Racing, a large gap in the sponsorship schedule for the No. 16 Ford driven by Biffle has opened up for next season. For the 2014 Sprint Cup campaign, 3M sponsored 29 races for the No. 16 team.
