JOLIET, Ill. — With Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano enjoying their weekends off in the Sprint Cup Series, Ryan Blaney (Team Penske) has received the go-ahead to drive the No. 22 Hertz Ford in Saturday’s 300 at the Chicagoland Speedway.

Blaney is looking to continue the streak of strong performances the No. 22 team have been on in the last several weeks. The No. 22 car has had an average finish of 2.75 over the last four races and went to victory lane with Keselowski in a dominating performance at Loudon one week ago.

Blaney has no previous starts at Chicagoland in the Nationwide Series but he has a top-five finish in one start here in the Camping World Truck Series – a third-place result from last year. The 20-year-old from High Point, North Carolina has been stellar on the mile-and-a-half tracks in his brief Nationwide Series career, winning at Kentucky in his 15th career start in the series back in 2013. Last year’s Kentucky winner has been on a tear in the series this year as well, placing in the top-10 in five of his six starts save for Talladega where he finished outside of the top-20.

Saturday will mark the first time that Blaney will race the No. 22 car in yellow Hertz colors. The Hertz sponsorship could be viewed as good luck for Blaney as a Hertz-sponsored No. 22 car would go to victory lane five times last season and would win with Keselowski last week.

“I am honored to be driving for such a great brand,” Blaney said. “Since Hertz has been on the No. 22 Mustang, it has won. Last year, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski were both able to bring the car to Victory Lane five out of the seven times Hertz was the primary sponsor. Last weekend in New Hampshire, Keselowski won in the Hertz Mustang. I feel some added pressure to win, but know I will have a great car and have the team that is capable of winning two weekends in a row for Hertz.”
