DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Brian Scott (Richard Childress Racing) laid down an impressive lap of 46.610 seconds near the start of Thursday’s two-hour practice session for tomorrow’s Subway Firecracker 250 to claim the title of quickest driver of the session.

Scott ran 89 thousandths of a second quicker than Darrell Wallace Jr. (Joe Gibbs Racing) – who is making his second series start of the year in the No. 20 Share a Coke Camry. Wallace would be the only driver to post a lap within one tenth of Scott’s time. Scott’s Richard Childress Racing teammate, Ty Dillon, would run the third-quickest time of the session while Dakoda Armstrong (Richard Petty Motorsports) and Ryan Reed (Roush-Fenway Racing) would round out the top-five.

Two other rookies would run in the top-10 of the lone practice session for the race. Chris Buescher (Roush-Fenway Racing) and Dylan Kwasniewski (Turner Scott Motorsports) would join Dillon, Armstrong, and Reed to make a total of five rookies in the top-10.

The top-three contenders for this year’s Drivers’ Championship – Elliott Sadler (Joe Gibbs Racing), Chase Elliott (JR Motorsports), and Regan Smith (JR Motorsports) – would run completely outside of the top-15. Sadler would run the 16th-fastest lap of the session while Elliott and Smith would run 22nd and 25th, respectively.

This two-hour session was the only on-track action for the Nationwide Series today. Qualifying will take place for the Subway Firecracker 250 tomorrow at 3:10 p.m ET while the race itself will take place tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m ET.
