LOUDON, N.H. – During the only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session on Friday afternoon, Joey Logano’s left rear tire blew out, sending his No. 22 Team Penske Ford Fusion hard into the outside wall in turn one.

Joey Logano was 11th quickest during the first practice session with a lap time of 28.287 seconds at 134.648 mph, however, he and his team will go to a backup car. With teams trying to find every little bit of an advantage they can, likely, a tire pressure adjustment outside of Goodyear’s guidelines is what caused the tire to let go.

“We had a left rear tire go down there,” Logano said. “The same exact thing happened in this race last year. I wasn’t even close to saving that. I needed about 500 more yards of straightaway to save that one. Unfortunately we will have to get the second AutoTrader.com Fusion out here and try to get it tuned up for the race. It is a bummer. I felt like our car was pretty good. It wasn’t great but we were getting closer and I felt like we were a top-five car. Hopefully the other one is just as good. Team Penske does a great job of making these cars consistent so I am not too worried about it.”

This weekend, Joey Logano is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Joey Logano Foundation. He unveiled the Foundation this time last year at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“We have done some really great things so far but we have one of our first really big events coming up here for the next New Hampshire race,” Logano said. “It will be in Wallingford, Connecticut, at On-Track Karting. We will do a Go-Kart race. That is where I am from. I raced a lot there growing up at the indoor go-kart track there. We are going to do a foundation event there and it is called On Track with ‘Joey Logano, Driven by AutoTrader.com’.”

Team Penske seems to be carrying the Ford banner so far this season. Both Joey Logano and teammate, Brad Keselowski have two wins each, and this weekend, they have an opportunity to be officially locked into the Chase. Logano earned his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway back in 2009, and with the momentum the team has, he feels pretty good about this weekend’s efforts to visit Victory Lane once again.

“I feel good about it,” Logano said. “This track is one of the tougher racetracks for me but it is a special race track for me and I consider it my home track not growing up too far from here. I watched my first Cup race here and won my first Cup race here so it has always been special for me. We had a good test at Milwaukee a couple weeks ago getting ready for this race and I think we are ready to go. We learned a couple things there that are a little different than we have normally done. We are going to get out of the box a little bit and try a few different things to try to wake up this AutoTrader.com Ford Fusion.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will hit the track once again later this afternoon for qualifying. The teams will have two practice sessions Saturday morning. Second practice starts at 9 a.m. and final will begin at 11:30 a.m. The Camping World RV Sales 301 will start on TNT at 1 p.m.
