MADISON, Ill. — Cole Custer (Haas Racing Development) will lead the field to green for tonight’s Drivin’ for Linemen 200 at the Gateway Motorsports Park after posting a time of 32.985 seconds to claim his first ever NASCAR 21 Means 21 Pole Award.

Custer snatched the pole from the hands of Darrell Wallace Jr. (Kyle Busch Motorsports) by six-thousandths of a second to win his first pole in his third career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Not bad for a 16-year-old who has never raced a lap at Gateway before.

Erik Jones (Kyle Busch Motorsports), Gray Gaulding (NTS Motorsports), and Chase Pistone (NTS Motorsports) rounded out the top-five in the standings. Points leader Matt Crafton (ThorSport Racing) qualified just outside of the top-10 in 11th-place; Jeb Burton would be Crafton’s only ThorSport teammate to crack the top-10 with his sixth-place qualifying effort. Red Horse Racing’s duo of German Quiroga and Timothy Peters both qualified in ninth and tenth, respectively.

The last Camping World Truck Series race held at Gateway was won from the pole by Kevin Harvick in 2010. Only one race out of the 13 held at Gateway for the trucks was won from outside of the top-10, David Starr won the 2004 event here from the 14th position.

The Drivin’ for Linemen 200 is beginning preparations for its start tonight, tune in to FOX Sports 1 at 8:00 p.m ET for all of the action or tune your radio to your local MRN affiliate or to SiriusXM Satellite NASCAR Channel 90 for radio coverage.
