Dillon Motor Speedway Honors Champions At Annual Banquet

Dillon, S.C., March 12, 2014: Dillon Motor Speedway’s Pro All Star Series (PASS) South Carolina Clash 150 season opener held on Saturday, March 8 had plenty of excitement, but now the speedway looks ahead to the 2014 local racing season.

During the annual awards banquet, ASA-sanctioned, Dillon Motor Speedway honored drivers who finished inside the top-five in the 2013 Dillon Motor Speedway track championship points standings at Western Sizzlin in Florence, S.C.

Dillon Motor Speedway has hosted the event since its reopening in 2007. Awards banquets can be hard to come by in the local ranks, but the speedway understands how hard the drivers and their crews work and wants to give them an opportunity to be recognized in front of family and friends.

“Being honored at the end of the season in front of your family and friends is such a great experience,” Ron Barfield, track owner and operator said. “Drivers and team members work hard every night during the season just to grab that check and hoist those trophies and awards. Not a lot of tracks take the time to honor their drivers, but at Dillon Motor Speedway, we’re all family, and we want to share those moments with each other.”

Each driver was awarded cash prizes along with a plaque. Champions honored included Ryan Hall, Late Models; Hal Goodson, Super Trucks; Brian Owens, Chargers; Kent Harper, Street Stocks; Andy Norton, Pure Stock Fours; and Chris Conner, Mini Cups. Among other prizes, Tommy Lilly won a cruise, while Greg Peterson and Kent Harper won brand new toolboxes.

After the checkered flag falls on the upcoming 2014 Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, Dillon Motor Speedway will host its annual open house event on Sunday, April 13. The event is for teams to test and tune their cars for the upcoming season. It’s also an opportunity for fans to view the new paint schemes and get to know some of the new faces that’ll be competing on a weekly basis.

The 2014 season kicks off on Saturday, April 19 for the Raceway Automotive Parts 200. Seasonal points will begin and all local classes will be in action. Although the entire schedule has not been finalized, Dillon Motor Speedway is set to host about 25 races in 2014.
