Grant Enfinger showed that he one of the drivers to watch Saturday afternoon on the high banks of Daytona in the ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil 200. Starting the race second Grant stayed at the front for the whole race and traded the top spot with pole sitter Dylan Kwasniewski several times. Kwasniewski dominated the first part of the race but around lap 54 gets caught on the high side racing with Enfinger and is shuffled back, finishing in 14th.

The first 13 laps of the 80 lap event were relatively trouble free except for Bobby Gerhart scraping the wall as he tried to race from the back. On lap 13 the #99 of Buster Graham spins and the result is what is commonly known on plate tracks as “The Big One”. When the smoke cleared there were a total of fifteen cars involved. Six, including Graham we unable to return to the track. Graham claims he was tapped by the #9 of Chase Elliott but no damage was visible on Chase’s bumper and he denies being away of any contact.

The field went back to green on lap 25 with Dylan Kwasniewski leading the way only to have the caution fly again for an incident involving the #54 of Matt Kurzejewski and the #55 of Leilani Munter. Matt was done while Leilani was able to continue after some repairs on pit road.

Caution flew for the final time on lap 71 for a single car spin of #33 Kody Weisner. He had previous damage from the lap 33 melee and it may have caused a tire issue. During the caution the #06 of Ed Pompa began smoking and he quickly pulled do to the attention of the safety crew.

Green came out for the final time on lap 73 with #90 Enfinger leading the pack. Hard racing made for a great finish with Enfinger being able to hold off veteran Frank Kimmel and Clay Campbell for his first win of the 2014 season. Grant has two win in the 2013 ARCA season, one at Mobile and one and Iowa.

Clay Campbell who finished third in the #52 Federated Auto Parts Chevy owned by Ken Schrader is the president of the Martinsville Speedway. He raced a few ARCA races last year and plans to also run this years ARCA race in Talladega.

The Daytona ARCA race can often be caution filled with many young drivers making their first start on a Super Speedway plate track. This year was different. The drivers raced hard and clean and treated the fans to tons of great green flag racing. We can only hope that the following NASCAR races in the days to come will be raced as well as the Lucas Oil 200.
