by January 6, 2014 0 comments

Kaz Grala happened on to the UARA circuit at the first Anderson Motor Speedway race in June driving for Falcon Racing and becoming team mate to 2012 Champion Travis Swaim. Grala came home 8th in that first UARA race.

The team followed that up by bring Grala to the Banjo Matthews Memorial Scholarship Race at Hickory Motor Speedway the following week. It was at this event that Grala put his foot down and showed all just how much spunk he had. He came home as the youngest UARA winner to date.

After that great run, he was hooked and signed up for the remainder of the year running in the UARA. He competed in 9 total events. Along with his win he had 1 fifth place finish, 1 sixth, 1 seventh, 3 eighths, 1 ninth and 1 twelfth. Quite an impressive run for a 14 year old in such a challenging series.

Grala is a veteran of Legend racing and was a busy driver throughout 2013. Not only was he competing with the UARA he also ran two prestigious events, the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown and the Myrtle Beach 400. He was behind the wheel of a Fat Head Racing car at Myrtle Beach and brought home a very impressive second place finish.

Not only did he have those great races he collected his share of contingency awards within the UARA. He won the Five Star Award, a Ford Award, DRP Performance Award (2), Tilton Award, JRI Shocks Award, WP Racing Shocks Award, Tri Star Racewear Award (5), Circle Wheels Award and the Safety Kleen Award.

“The UARA Series is a great series in Late Models because it allows the drivers to experience different tracks instead of staying at just one. I was lucky enough to run and finish well in almost all of the races I did this year in the UARA Series. Definitely one of my favorite 2013 highlights is winning Hickory in only my second start and becoming the youngest winner in UARA history! Thank you to UARA for contributing to my 2013 season and helping me learn the stock car essentials of racing.” Thank you! -Kaz Grala

The UARA will take time to honor their top ten at the annual Banquet on January 11, 2014.
