Kicking Things Off

NASCAR is officially on it’s winter break and you won’t see any on track action until the weekend of Jan. 10th when PreSeason Thunder kicks off testing at Daytona. ARCA has concluded it’s preseason testing at Daytona where over 70 drivers, some making their first ever laps at the track, started to process of getting ready for the first event of the 2014 Season in February.

The Snowball Derby has been run and so the Late Models are done for the year. The Chili Bowl Nationals start the week of Jan. 13th and can be seen live on MAVTv this year. However we are less than a week away from the kickoff of the 2014 racing season with the New Years Street Stock Race at the Dillon Motor Speedway.

Saturday, January 4th the roar of racing engines will be heard for the first time in 2014 at the speedway. Along with the usual huge field of Street Stock cars that make the annual trek to Dillon will be the MiniStock Mayhem, Chargers, Dirt Cars on Asphalt and UCAR/Pure Stocks.

The Street Stocks, which are the backbone of any local racing and where tons of NASCAR drivers got their start will be racing for a whopping $2000 to win. This year The Fourth Turn will be providing live updates from the track on our Race Day Updates page. If you can’t make it to Dillon to kick the 2014 racing season off you can still keep up with the great racing action.

Info, rules and schedules can be found at the Dillon Motor Speedway website, or by calling Ron Barfield at 843-496-4792 or Dwayne Weatherford at 843-307-0070.
