Dillon Bassett to Finish 2013 Season in Myrtle Beach 400

November 19, 2013 – After capping a successful UARA-STARS season at Anderson Motor Speedway in October, newly crowned UARA Champion Dillon Bassett is ready to enter The Myrtle Beach 400, marking the final stop of the season for 16 year old Bassett.

Dillon Bassett made his first career NWAAS start during the Myrtle Beach 400 in 2011, finishing 30th after getting caught up in two on track incidents. Bassett returned in 2012 to take on the prestigious MB400, qualifying fifth. Unfortunately Mother Nature took the victory last November and the race was postponed to March 2013, an event Bassett was unable to attend.

Since his first NWAAS start two seasons ago, Bassett has logged many laps behind his No. 44
Rex Younger Galleries / Pig Oil / Butler Trailer Ford and established himself as a contender week in and out. In addition to his five career UARA-STARS victories, Dillon Bassett has recorded two NWAAS podium finishes in his five starts.

Alongside his UARA-STARS Championship, Dillon Bassett’s most impressive accomplishment of 2013 came in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway. The 16 year old took on Martinsville for the first time, coming home second following a strong performance and a controversial GWC restart. Dillon Basset enters this weekend searching for his first NWAAS victory.

“Martinsville really left a bad taste in our mouth, but also lit a fire for our team,” Bassett said. “We knew we had a phenomenal car, we just didn’t bring home the trophy (or the check). It gives us a little extra push to perform well at The Beach, the second biggest late model race of the season. We are ready to redeem ourselves and bring this one home,” Bassett continued.

The No. 44 Bassett Racing team is looking to put an exclamation mark on their season with a solid run in their season ending race. On November 9th Dillon Bassett hit the .563 mile racetrack for testing. With strong handling and center rotation, the team feels they have the right foundation entering Myrtle Beach Speedway on Wednesday for practice.

Qualifying for The Myrtle Beach 400 is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 2:30 PM, with the top 20 qualifiers locked in. Three last chance races are set for Saturday evening, transferring four from each event. The 200 lap feature is set for Sunday November 24th approximately 2:30 PM following the Southeast Limited Late Model race.
