A Championship Machine

A Championship Machine

Jimmie Johnson has captured his 6th NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship and is now only 1 more away from tying NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt  Sr. with 7. There is little doubt in anyones mind that within the next few years Jimmie will most likely achieve and exceed this milestone. Jimmie Johnson is quite simply a Championship Machine.

There is no question that Johnson is among the most skilled drivers to ever strap into a stock car but winning a Championship takes more than skill.  Winning 6 including 5 in a row is nothing short of astounding. To do what he has done so far takes an incredible athlete with incredible focus. Jimmie does one thing, he races NASCAR Sprint Cup series and it shows.

Over the past 5 season while the other 4 drivers at the top of this seasons Chase have run a combined 275 Nationwide races Jimmie has raced in 2. This season Matt Kenseth, was the only one at the end who could really challenge Johnson raced in 16 Nationwide races. Kyle Busch ran 26, Kevin Harvick ran 11 and Dale Earnhardt Jr competed in 4. Jimmie Johnson raced in just one.

Many drivers in the top ranks of Sprint Cup own race teams that field Late Models to Nationwide entries. Matt Kenseth has Generation 3 Motorsport, Dale Jr. has JR Motorsports, Kyle Busch has Kyle Busch Motorsports and Kevin Harvick had KHI 2011. Jimmie Johnson has no race team, and other than a handful of Nationwide and Rolex Sports Car events he has only raced NASCAR Sprint Cup in almost a decade.

Charity, physical conditioning, his family and Sprint Cup race are all that Jimmie Johnson does and that’s exactly what it takes to be a Championship Machine. Look for the current era NASCAR record books to be rewritten very soon.
