Randleman, NC (October 1, 2013) – Ryan Wilson is hoping to improve on last year’s top-five finish in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300.  This year, Wilson wants to take a $25,000 check and a grandfather clock back to Randleman, North Carolina as he looks to win Sunday’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300.

Last year, Wilson raced his way to a fourth place finish in Late Model Stock Car racing’s most prestigious event after starting 24th.  This year, the Caraway Speedway championship points leader anticipates running out front at a track that he’s performed well at.

“Honestly, I expect to go out there and run up front,” Wilson said.  “We finished fourth last year after starting 24th.  The first time I went up there in 2009, we made the race on speed and got taken out.  We were strong then as well.  We’ve been strong every time we make the race so I expect to have a really good showing.”

Wilson believes he will be a contender in Sunday’s race.

“I definitely think we can contend for the win,” Wilson explained.  “As far as qualifying, I don’t expect to set the world on fire or anything but I expect to be decent at worst and I expect to make the race.  I wouldn’t go there if I didn’t.  We’ll be really good in the race.  I’m looking forward to the race itself.  Getting in, you have to take care of your stuff to make sure you have something to race with and be good in the race.”

Ryan Wilson has two wins on the season, both coming at Caraway Speedway which is a track similar in layout to Martinsville Speedway, boasting long straightaways and sharp turns. The week after the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300, Caraway Speedway will crown their track champion.  Wilson leads the standings at Caraway Speedway by 10 points over his nearest championship rival.

The Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 will be on Sunday afternoon starting with heat races at 12pm EST.  Qualifying on Saturday will set the field for the heat races.  RACE22.com will have Live Coverage of qualifying and the race all weekend.
